About the role

You will oversee the full membership lifecycle, ensuring members feel connected, supported and receive value from their membership. You will review and implement the membership strategy, using member feedback and data to improve services and grow engagement, retention and participation.

Working closely with the National Office team, regional committees and volunteer leaders, you will ensure membership services respond to the diverse needs of rural women throughout Aotearoa.

This is a full-time, permanent position, preferably based in Wellington CBD, with flexible working arrangements. Other New Zealand locations may be considered.

 

What you’ll do

  • Review, update and implement the membership strategy in collaboration with the Chief Executive and Board
  • Lead the membership team and oversee the full member lifecycle, from onboarding to exit
  • Oversee membership services, ensuring member enquiries, events and other member- facing activities are well coordinated and responsive
  • Work with regional committees and volunteer leaders to support member connection and participation
  • Recognise members’ contributions and help share their stories and achievements
  • Continually improve membership systems, processes and resources, ensuring accurate CRM records
  • Analyse membership data and feedback to identify trends, inform decisions and provide clear Board reporting
  • Oversee AGM processes, including remits and elections, and reporting on grant and bursary outcomes

What we’re looking for

  • Commitment to and understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Proven experience in membership, customer experience, community engagement, relationship management or a similar member-focused role
  • Strong understanding of membership strategy, member lifecycle management, and the factors that drive member engagement, satisfaction, retention, and growth
  • Ability to identify and implement practical improvements to membership services and the member experience.
  • Ability to analyse data and member feedback, identify trends and translate insights into service improvements and strategic advice
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Working knowledge of governance requirements and processes relevant to charities and incorporated societies.
